I was at a Toddler Group this morning and the local nursery brought in 4 babies (2 under 1 and I'm think the other 2 were under 2), the youngest which looked to me to be about 9 months was reclined in a pushchair (not flat but quite far back) with a full bottle of milk feeding herself. Both the ladies from the nursery turned their back on her and busied themselves with the other 3, it was for quite a long time because the lady running the group was telling stories, it could have been maybe 15-20 minutes.
The baby girl fell asleep with the bottle still in her mouth.
I get that some parents will probably do similar (my mum actually has said she used to give me a bottle to feed myself when I was old enough to hold it) but I thought in this scenario with such a young baby and reclined, that this was a choking hazard and I was quite shocked that two professionals would do that and then turn their back on the baby. I thought they would know better.
Am I misinformed? Is this actually fine?
