Tapestry

My LO started nursery a month or so ago, obviously with the Xmas break in the middle. They use Tapestry and we've had about three updates on there. I thought it may be more but I don't mind. They have mentioned yesterday that we can update it too. I am doing it now and just writing what new words she has learned etc but feel quite self conscious - I'm not sure what I'm supposed to put on there and how often. I don't want to start updating lots and seem like an overbearing parent! What do other parents do? Do you update it at all?

Our nursery encourage us to put photos and things on there about what we've done at the weekend or holidays etc so that they can chat about it in circle time and the children can show their friends (more so DD4 than DS2). I would usually do a post once every couple of weeks (if i remember and have time!) although this week i've done two, one about our christmas holidays and one about potty training.

I didn't put anything on. Other mums put the odd comment

We don’t use tapestry but have a similar app (Parent Zone).

Nursery update it every day with what meals DS has had and a photo of what they’ve been doing. Or a message to say can we send more nappies in etc.

I’ve never put any updates on it myself though, but nursery have never asked us to.

I get updates/photos, sometimes none for a week then they catch up the week after.
The uploads have to be approved by management before they come to you, so your key worker could be putting them on daily and there's just been a build up.

We get a brief run down of their day, meals etc daily handed to us on pick up.

The EYFS rules changed a couple of year ago, which was basically for the workers to spend more time with the children.

I upload to my DCs every so often. More so Christmas time, birthday and when he's learnt something new.

Observations are very useful for planning next steps and checking development so crack on!
