Weekend Opening

My working hours differ from some people and I end up doing quite a bit at the weekend rather than always during the week. Does anyone know of how weekend childcare works for people who don’t have nearby family to help? I know nurseries tend to work like schools and are open during the week but what do parents who work at weekends do for childcare? Anyone been in a similar situation to me? What did you do?

IME, when parents work weekends, they tend to do it to save on childcare costs, and the other parent looks after the child(ren).

A few years ago a Nursery near hear started advertising weekend cover. It was not far from a big hospital but it couldn't make it work financially - there wasn't the call for it.

Some form of personal childcare like a nanny/au pair/babysitter depending on the age of the children and whether you're working from home/away from home.

You do find the occasional childminder who will work weekends but they tend to be few and far between.
