DH is in the Navy, and they've recently started the childcare voucher scheme with Sodexho. I don't really know if it's worth our while at the moment, as we don't really have steep nursery fees, and I don't even know if DS1's pre-school accepts them.
So, if you use them at the moment, has it been a huge faff? Are they reliable?
I worked out our savings over a year would be £100 (we currently only pay £2.80 per day 4 days per week in termtime), but that's still 25% of our outgoings on pre-school fees. My other consideration is that DS1 will start school in September, but then DS2 will go to pre-school probably two mornings a week, which won't be funded for the first year, so our costs will rise quite a bit. Is it worth setting up the scheme now so it's bedded in for September?
Last question - does this still work OK with term-time only places? Presuming you can bank the vouchers, and then pay off a big chunk in one go?
Right, just need to ask the pre-school if they do, or would even consider accepting the vouchers. They're only a small place, so it might be too much of an admin burden for them.
