Observation sessions for prep school nursery

Hi there

We are thinking about sending our little one to a prep school for nursery / lower foundation.

They ask the children to do an observation session, we know it’s an informal group session but are unsure what they are looking for. They are vague and talk about trying to understand whether they can support the child.

Our little one will be just over 2.5 years old and is quite wary of strangers (adults and children) and takes a while to warm up to new faces. We are concerned that this will count against them.

Has anyone had experience of such situations or can offer some insight?

Thank you!

Don't worry ....just seeing how the child interacts and if any signs of SEN etc that might need more support..it's not a test as such !!!

As pp, any needs that that met, if they can then settling in ok etc.

They will totally understand young ones not being open to staff straight away etc.
