Hi Everyone

I've just found out that my son is being awarded DLA, Does anyone know how to go about claiming the 15 free hours? I've looked online but cannot find any information about how the system works.

Thanks :)

Is this for a 2 year old? You need to apply via your local authority but if you have a setting in mind they can help with an assisted application

Thank you I will have a look at my local authority webpage.

Will the free funding be back paid to when I applied for DLA? Currently paying the nursery for the hours he is their? He is 2.

I'm no expert but no it's not usually backpaid. Possibly will only be able to be claimed from January but that's at the discretion of the local authority

Get it from when it's awarded....likely to be jan 23 now

You claim via local council if two year old. They'll tell you how to apply and how you can use it.

Eligibility starts the term after you become eligible and can't be backdated.

Be aware that at some nurseries you will get 15 hours though most will be 11 hours per week.
