Baby not settling at nursery

Hi my baby is now 14 months and I have stretched my mat leave as much as I could. He started nursery 2 weeks ago but is not settling. It’s just getting worse. They have to peel him off me. He has become very unsettled at home too. Wakes up a lot in the night. Not eating well.

the nursery has been used by many friends and the carers are very loving. But I don’t know how long to persevere with the baby. He cries even when I am putting him in the car now.

one thing is that they take him at the door whereas before you would walk in with the baby so I don’t know if that is a making a difference.

he goes 3 full days a week so is there from 8-5:30
sorry for the rambling post I am just wondering how long it takes for them to settle.

How is he after you've dropped him off? Do the staff say he settles reasonably quickly once you've gone?

My littlest (a lockdown baby) started nursery at just turned 1 and cried every day at dropoff for 6 weeks (he went 4 days a week). It was pretty horrendous at the time, but what got us through that was that he cheered up pretty quickly after I'd gone and did actually have fun at nursery.

2 weeks is still very early days and sleep/eating do get disrupted by change. But talk to the nursery staff and be guided by whether they think it's an unusual level of upset for a new starter.

They said he settles quickly after I leave but yesterday I stood outside the gate for about 15 minutes and I could hear him screaming. I left after that as it was so distressing.
he was happy at pick up though.
I will talk to the nursery but they have been saying he is happy
