Nursery closed due to heat despite having air conditioning?

Hello hope you’re all well. Apologies if this has already been discussed but our nursery closed due to the ‘extreme heat’ despite providing air conditioning. This is becoming a pattern with our nursery that they close when they can get the opportunity. Can anyone assist if they have been through something like this before? Are we entitled to a refund if we choose to pursue this?
Thanks In advance.

How long did they close for?

gogohmm · 16/08/2022 14:38

Ridiculous, they are cooler at nursery than at home as most homes don't have air con.

CornishTiger · 16/08/2022 14:40

Except it is within their control. They have air con.
They need to adapt their business. If they’d have been flooding then that’s an emergency.

Not ok at all, I would refuse to pay and if they have air conditioning I would ask them to explain why they are closed as surely that is the best place for staff and babies!

Hi there. Thank you for your reply. It was one day.

I'm with @CornishTiger

They had advanced warning, they have air conditioning and could make other arrangements to help made it more comfortable.

Our nursery was open through all the heat wave, we are in one of the hottest areas in the U.K. and the building doesn't have air conditioning. They closed the windows and blinds, stripped the children down to their nappies/pants and put out water play (inside).

Some a/c doesn't work properly if the outside temperature is too high, maybe that was the reason.
