Toddler gone feral since extra nursery

Hi, my 3 year old is naturally like the Tasmanian devil but it's ramped up even more & seems more feral since an extra day and slightly longer hours at nursery.

Is this normal? He seems in a world of his own at times and when we have our days together I keep desperately saying 'focus', 'connect with mummy' - not that he understands haha. It's difficult dealing with this crazy boy!!

The ratio of kids to staff is greater in his new room as per guidelines so less adult time? I think he spends hours obsessively on a tricycle. He seems happy though and actually seems more confident out and about, larger than life. Anyone had this?

Are they putting him down for a nap aka staff break??

Musomama1 · 16/06/2022 16:39

@justasking111 only the odd catnap when he's drifting off at nursery, but most nursery days he doesn't nap.

He still naps on his days at home.

He could be tired with being out of the house more.

It could also be the opposite problem to what you think. At nursery, he's probably used to some structure in his day which is probably more than you have at home and also a very different routine. He also has other children to play with at nursery. He's probably struggling to adjust to entertaining himself more if he's an only child at home.

Toddler is tired.

Mine have more energy in the summer months

Sounds overtired.

Do you really say 'connect with mummy' to him?

Thank you for all your posts, definitely food for thought, he's been much better today so maybe just adjusting to new routine and the difference between nursery and home time, plus he probably has been more tired due to much less napping.

They are always changing ...
