Maternity leave and childcare

Hi!! I had my little girl in May last year and my statutory maternity leave ended on 14th jan! I am currently 31 weeks pregnant so have decided to start my second maternity leave from the 17th jan (so it ran straight on and didn't need to go back to work in between)
I was just wondering if I would be entitled to help with childcare payments for my first child ? She is getting to the age where I think maybe a couple of mornings would do her good and would also give me one on one time with the new baby but I wouldn't be able to afford it without any help from universal credit? When I go on the calculator it says I'm not entitled as I'm currently on maternity leave ? But this is not maternity leave for her ?

Sorry it's very complicated I will ring them Monday just didn't know if anyone had any ideas in the mean time
Thanks !!

I don’t think so OP- you’re at home therefore able therefore care for her yourself, however nice it might be to be able to have a childcare place, it’s something you’d have to fun yourself.

I think only tax free childcare

www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare

20% input from the government, up to £500 a quarter

But I don’t think you’d qualify for TFC on maternity leave?

Maternity leave counts as being employed. I've been using TFC for DS while on maternity leave for DD

You do. I'm on maternity leave and we've been using it for our first Smile

Well I’ve learnt something new Smile

OP do you get universal credit? You almost certainly won't be any childcare support as there's no free hours til 2 at the very earliest.

Tax free childcare is probably the only help you'll get.
