Nursery covid cases

Hi guys,

Just wondering what your nurseries do when there are positive covid cases. Have had to collect DD early as not enough staff due to isolating etc. They have said they will have to see what the situation is tomorrow and whether there are any operational issues.

To those who have experienced nursery closures due to covid either for the day/prolonged period of time did you receive any reimbursement?

I'm just thinking worst case and having to take unpaid parental leave and so on - obviously they still have to pay their overheads and staff but still are not providing a service I'm paying an extortionate amount for.

Would I be unreasonable to at least expect some form of compensation given that all food/nappies/milk are included in the monthly cost but if they're closed she won't be there to use any of these things?

Every nursery has their own policy on it.
You'd have to ask.

I still pay if closed/isolating etc.

At ours if the nursery can’t provide a service eg. Closed due to staff shortages then we don’t have to pay but if my child is I’ll/off because of covid or being on holiday then we still pay. Worth asking for the policy though as this was given to us before we signed my child up.

We've been given days in lieu.

Yes spoke to staff today said that we would be credited for any days that they have to be closed which is helpful.

I work in a nursery, fortunately (fingers crossed!) we've only had two very short stints of closure. On both occasions parents were offered to have the day added onto another month - although obviously we couldn't guarantee which day that could be.
