Have I failed my dc? west London nurseries

I'm currently looking for nurseries for my 2.5 year old in West London but I feel I have left it too late. I moved into the area 5 months ago and struggling to find nurseries that don't have a long waiting lists. People are registering their dc from birth I was told by some nurseries, bloody hell! Dc is 3 in May so what will happen? Is dc not to attend nursery at all?

I currently live in Kensington and I've looked at nurseries in:

Kensington
Holland Park
Earls Court
Notting Hill
Chelsea

I have a tour end of the week with one nursery after contacting countless nurseries. I'm looking at both private and state nurseries. So since leaving this so late, is it possible to start signing up for reception/primary schools right now? I'm so new to this as a first time mother and also new to the area and I just feel like I've totally messed up with my child's future :(

Please help with your advice.

If your DC is 3 in May you should be able to apply for a state nursery attached to a primary school but will be starting next Sept, the deadline should be around Jan. Look at your local council website for info. State nursery places aren’t first come, first serve - more to do with how close you live to the nursery. So hopefully that would give you better chance of getting in. Also, if you can afford the registration fee for private nurseries I would still advise signing up and getting on the waiting list..places sometimes become available earlier than they say.

Perfect. I've looked up a couple of state nurseries where I live and already printed the forms. In the meantime, yes I can afford registration fees so I'll just apply and hope for a place come up soon fingers crossed. Thank you 🙏
