Unhappy with creche

So I'm starting to have some real concerns about my son at creche. My older son goes to the same creche and is very happy, until my baby starting attending I highly rated it. However due to covid ice never been in my babies room or met his minders. First thing I noticed was some bruises he has got a few times now on his shins. They almost look like finger markers. He is really hard to change and won't lay still and I worry that someone is holding him tight to change him. But I've said nothing up until now. This morning I send him off fine and then tonight he comes home and I change him and I notice a big bruise on his thigh, looks like a bite mark. We were not told he was bitten. Then I change his nappy and his butt is raw and his groin is covered in spots. It did not look like that this morning and there is no mention of it in his book. I feel like he must have been left in a dirty nappy. I provide all wipes and nappies so it can't be that. I'm dreading sending him back. He's so small and I'm worried he's not being looked after well. How do I approach the creche? I don't want to accuse by at the same time I'm not happy!

Hi, that sounds worrying.

I would just tell them you've notcied a mark on his thigh which looks like a bite and ask them if they in now how he got it.

Tell them you noticed his sore bum and ask them how many times his nappy was changed yesterday.

It doesnt need to feel confrontational, you are just asking questions. If they are a good nursery they will look into it. Like check the log for when his nappy was changed. Report back to you and maybe apologize.

I guess they will ask the other staff about the mark on his leg and get back to you.

Do you get a daily report of his nappy changes etc?
You need to ask where the marks are coming from

I don’t think the shins would worry me that much - my LO has the exact thing (happens at home too!) and its from crawling over, kneeling etc on toys.
I would mention the nappy rash and ask them to keep a close eye on it.

I would definitely query the bite mark! It is possible that it happened right before home time and they didn’t see it occur (kids are very quick!) But they need to be aware that they’ve got a biter and keeping a close eye on them to try and stop it happening again.
