Watching this as also considering a Kido

Psychgrad · 12/11/2021 23:02

I worked with an agency who sent me to lido in angel and it was lovely, slightly boring but lovely staff/ healthy attachments. I also worked at kido camden but they were awful, I reported them to Ofsted!

Psychgrad · 12/11/2021 23:02

Kido, not lido

What made the Camden kido so horrible?

Hongkongdimsum · 27/06/2022 04:38

@Psychgrad what made the Camden kido so horrible?

Psychgrad · 27/06/2022 07:44

@Hongkongdimsum staff verbally abusing very small children when they cry for their parents, one staff member repeatedly calling a 16 month old baby ‘chucky’ because of the way she looked, groups of staff sitting around chatting instead of interacting with the children. At about 1 or 2pm an agency staff member noticed a baby had not been changed all day and had poo all up her back, not sure if anyone was disciplined for this or if the parent was told. I did report to ofsted but don’t know the outcome.

Evening, everyone. We were contacted by Kido Nursery Camden to discuss some of the comments on this thread. They gave us this comment:

"We are sad to see this comment and this does not reflect the Kido Camden we are so proud of and that many children, parents and teachers love. Unfortunately we can not comment on the sincerity of this post but would encourage you to review Day Nurseries where Kido Camden is rated 9.9/10 by parents reviews, along with our recent "Good" Ofsted inspection. Overall we would welcome you to arrange a viewing of Kido Camden and experience the nursery for yourself."

Just to add about what was written about Kido. I worked for two Kido nursery in South London and it was an horrible experience! Staff were bullying by management. We were also asked by management to lie about children. Eg: Pretending a child had a nap but it was untrue.
Most important, my baby was in the baby room(not with me) and I could see trough the big window that she was left alone crying most of the time. Do not spend your money in this kind of nursery! They jus want your money and do not care about their employee or the children.

Please can you elaborate?? I'm looking at a kido in South London but this has really worried me!

i work at Kido. A question I always ask myself is

would I send my child here?

yes I would send my child here.
we are always in ratio
everything is logged on paper and on the Kido app
cameras everywhere
management serious about their job
always plan a week before hand for the following week
HR always visits
always required to be the best
looking for ways to improve

Would I send my child to the last place I worked? No.

we were never in ratio

downside is that Kido would rather pay agencies More money than permanent staff and that is the reason why permanent staff leave. Pay is rubbish compared to other nurseries. Although I love it here I am looking for another job, simply doesn’t pay enough for what I’m doing here. Many good and compassionate staff leave because of pay.

Anonymous987x · 23/05/2023 23:10

I had a similar experience. I worked also for one of the Kido nursery south west London. They do leave the babies crying. The management goes along with that. The staff that speak out is bullied. They also do not follow the Montessori or Regio Emilia Approach. It is just marketing. Their teaching approach is more like threatening if they do something that the teacher doesn't want. They won't give snack if the children don't "listen". The wellbeing of the children is secundary. The needs of the staff are first. The children most of the time watch videos in the iPad, like cocomelon. They are outstanding but don't fool yourself. They behave differently when they have "visits". I just completely regret applying for that company. I am Montessori qualified and seeing what is happening is frustrating.

I send my 2 year old to the Kido Tooting nursery- is this the SW London branch you're referring to? I have my instincts all is not as it seems behind closed doors, due to a few incidences, but I don't know any of the other parents to confirm this with.

Psychgrad · 20/07/2023 19:00

No it wasn’t a SW London branch, it was central (north) but most nurseries are really crappy from my experience so I’d say trust your gut. I will never send my child to a nursery because of the experience I’ve had in several nurseries, all different companies.

Mammagirl · 21/07/2023 17:56

I can confirm what have been writing by anonymous987x: they do not follow Montessori or Regio pedagogy. Everything they do for the parents is about showing off and pretending to make their customers happy.
Working condition were horrible and I have never experienced such a massive turn over of staff in 10 years working in childcare. I was not even allow to go to the toilets in some of my working hours.. To say how bad it was..
Also the Kido nursery I worked for was running mainly with agency staff. From what I read, it is also the case in their other nurseries.. Saying a lot about the way they treat their staff..

Busylady1234 · 22/07/2023 00:44

I’m sorry to hear all of this. I work at Kido, I do think pay is rubbish however it’s a lot easier than some other nurseries I’ve been with. I do feel sorry for those who do 25 nappies in a row 2x a day. It breaks your back.

I don’t agree with what people are saying. Everything we do is for the children. Kido really has the kids best interest at heart. There are cameras everywhere so can’t really get away with doing something wrong. Every single thing is logged. It can be too much paper work sometimes. Everyday I want to quit. Not because I don’t like it here, because it can be too much. They didn’t give me a day off which was sooooo important to me and this was super annoying, I took it anyway. Bit confusing with deputy manager and manager, they don’t always communicate and get things mixed up. I read earlier that they leave children to cry! It’s not that they leave them. Sometimes they make noise without tears and we get to them asap once we’ve finished what we’re doing. Same when parents come for show around or settling in. We’re not our best behaviour then , just as normal.

Kido do have alot of agency staff who are quite lazy. They also have alot who are regular and know the routing of the children.

Kido like to hire a lot of asian staff. I realise why now. They are hardworking and motherly Downside of Kido has got to be the pay which is absolutely s* compared to others.

Id send my child to Kido. I’ve been to others and sadly I wouldn’t send them there.

Have you read the previous messages? Sound like a chain to avoid.

Inessaa · 07/01/2024 14:46

No, I haven't, looks like very difficult to find the nursery.
