Illness and attending/not attending nursery

Hi 👋🏻

My 2.5 year old started nursery a month ago. Since starting she has had a constant runny nose /cough /cold and now a sticky eye . she had a temperature initially too though this hasn't been a thing of recent weeks thank goodness! Overall in herself though she is absolutely fine and energetic and wanting to play !!

We have tested and it's not covid . We have kept her off to recover. But it just isn't going away. Both myself and my husband are sick now too - my cold turned into tonsillitis twice !!

Since the sticky eye which came on this morning, we will be keeping her off for the rest of the week again now too. But my question to other working mums out there - how do you manage it ? Both emotionally and physically ? The guilt is just unreal at the moment ! I worry I'm going to get the sack for not dedicating enough energy and time to work as I have to keep being off to take care of my daughter ! We are in the process of moving house to get a bigger house to enable us to live and work in one house and not be in each other's pockets so much - we can't afford for me to give up my job as we need it for the mortgage .

I just want to jack my job in but I cant 😭 where am I going wrong and how can I support my daughter without losing my job !!

It's really hard with illness for the first few months after they start nursery as they catch everything. Add to that with covid a lot if little ones haven't been to baby groups as much and caught stuff there.

The year my youngest started nursery at 11 months he had within the first six months - chicken pox (brother also had that!) hand foot and mouth, viral gingivitis, stomach bug and bad cold/flu. I gut a letter from work about attendance for the first time in my life. But things much better the second year- hang in there!
