Hi,

It's my first time posting here, and I'm just looking for a bit of advice or reassurance please. My baby girl is nearly one and is just starting at a childminders. She's doing two days a week, for three hours at a time, to help her settle in. I'm finding it hard, maybe more so than she is. We haven't been apart for very long before and then she was always with her dad. I guess its just a big adjustment for me to hand her over to someone else, and heart-wrenching to walk away when I can see she is upset. Can someone tell me it will get easier :(

@Mumifest it will most definitely get easier as you get more confidence that she is happy and enjoying herself. You are completely human feeing the way you are!

It will get easier. You'll be told about all the fun she's having each day and you'll start doing things to distract yourself.

When you collect her and she gets excited to see you it'll be all worth it! Best feeling ever.

Thank you, I think I needed to hear that. My partner is so pragmatic he doesn’t really get it and it’s hard to explain why I find it tough. Yesterday was actually the first day she didn’t get upset!

It gets so much easier , and this is coming from someone who never left their child once in their first year . He never even had a bottle because boob was always there . I had bad anxiety about leaving him 🥺 And then suddenly I had to go back to work and he was in nursery 8 hours a day for 3 days a week.

He loved it ( still does ) and is excited to go . I’m on another maternity leave now and I kept him in 2 days a week because it’s been so good for him !

The first week is the hardest and after that it gets easier 🤗
