Morning or afternoon sessions better?

DD has just turned two and is starting nursery. I just wondered if for any reason morning or afternoon sessions are better? Everyone seems to opt for the morning sessions, maybe because it includes lunch? But I thought afternoons might be better as I can take her to baby classes which are mainly in the morning? Is there anything I'm missing here?

Lots of people opt for morning because their children nap in the afternoon.

Mine sadly do not past two so I would go for the afternoon too so we could do stuff. I have older ones at school so I'm doing the 9 & 3 school run regardless.

Mornings, so she can sleep at home in the afternoon?

Mornings so they get a proper cooked lunch! Also mine used to hate waking up then going straight out so would cry the whole way

Depends when your child naps

In the toddler room after lunch is nap time, then it's not long before tea. Most of the exciting activities happen in the morning.

My 3 year old started with afternoons and moved to mornings and I find them so much better - they seem to do their structured activities in the morning and so he enjoys it a lot more. He was starting at 1, some kids were napping around that time and pickups started around 4 so it felt like the session was starting to wrap up at that point.

Mornings would be better at two. A lot of two year olds still nap and a lot of them may be asleep during the session. It may give more one to one time with an adult but not so much time with peers.

We do more activities in the morning when everyone is awake, such as going for walks, cooking etc.

At preschool age either would be fine.

Mornings are better as that's what the other children tend to do. There is a lot more structure offered in the morning.
