Settling toddler at new nursery

Hello, recently decided to move DD (almost 3) from private to council nursery. Decision made for a variety of reasons and new nursery is very well regarded.

DD was very settled at previous nursery, no issues going in at all. We went in for a settle today and she is not happy at all in the new nursery, lasted about 10 mins before staff came and got me as she was very tearful. She won't really talk to me about it beyond telling me she's scared and doesn't want to go back.

Anyone had experience of this? Did it work out? Any tips??

It's new, new adults, new children, new surroundings.
It'll take some time but she'll get there.
Did you explain to her she'd be moving etc?

Yes, we've talked about it lots and lots in preparation. I suppose I was just looking for someone to say it all worked out for them under similar circumstances. Just need to be patient!!

Send her in with a few familiar things next time - toy or book or blanket. And arrive in time for breakfast / lunch because kids can often be distracted by food. Also, is there a reason why the staff got you so early? I would expect them to wait longer than 10min.

That was the first time? I wouldn't worry about tears on the first settle, and I'm actually surprised that your nursery gave up after 10 minutes. We've just settled my toddler and baby at their new nursery due to relocation. The toddler cried his eyes out at drop off on the first settle - properly screaming and weeping. But he sooner settled down and got distracted by toys. Now he goes every day and loves it. A new place must be really scary for them.
