Etiquette for moving to preschool

My Ds has been going to a nursery but next week goes upstairs to pre school, (currently in toddler room) would you get a gift for his current key worker or just wait till he leaves nursery this time next year?

I think he’s leaving the key worker so get a gift now. She may not be there in a year.

I got a gift for dd's key worker when she moved from babies to the next room but not since. She's had so many key worker changes... there was one extra nice one along the way and we bought her a nice Xmas gift.
