What do you understand by the term safeguarding?
What do you know about the EYFS?
Have you heard of Prevent Duty, County Lines, Witchcraft?
What do you know about how children learn, the characteristics of effective learning and schemas?
What would you do if you saw a staff member shouting at a child?
How would you deal with a child misbehaving, eg disturbing story time or throwing toys or hitting other children?
If I asked you do plan an activity for a group of 4 year olds to develop maths outside what would you plan?
What special skill can you bring to the team?
Why are you the best person for the job?
And my favourite one- when can you start?

I've found in nursery interviews that they're mostly looking for a bubbly, friendly and approachable person....some of the questions I've been asked are 'what would you do if a child bit another child'? 'why are you a good candidate for this job'? 'what would you do if you had safeguarding concerns that you felt weren't being dealt with by the DSL'? 'what activities would you plan for different areas of development'? Sometimes they've also watched me for half an hour in the room with the children x
