Getting a baby ready for nursery

Are there any tips or games to be played that help a baby cope with separation better?

Mine doesn't start nursery until later in the year but I thought we could practice now - especially as they're a lockdown baby and I just worry more that they'll find nursery settling in a bit more difficult - hoping I'm wrong!

For example, some suggest leaving the room and saying you'll be back soon, then re-appearing as promised to let them know you will eventually return if you leave them.
Anyone tried things like that?

Do you have other people you can leave them with for short periods ?
(Grandparents seem the obvious choice, but even if you had a babysitter come in and play with them whilst they were there and then gradually when you go out the room ?

Not that you need to do this for the baby - the Nursery staff will settle them, but if it helps you.

I didn't do anything to prepare my LO tbh, it took 3 weeks of a couple of tears going in then he absolutely loved it.
It's a lot more scarier for us than them.
I understand your worries etc but honesty sometimes going in full throttle is the best way.
