Nursery - best friend gift

Hi my DD finishes nursery in next couple of weeks ready for starting school in September. She has one best friend she’s always talking about and have gone through nursery together, they are off to different schools so I was thinking of getting a little gift to remember my dd by, what do you think? Any recommendations?

Also do I make contact with the child’s mum and see how meeting up over summer with the kid’s?

thats a lovely idea.
I would be really touched if someone did that for my little one. Especially since they or off to different schools. Only thing I would say is maybe be discreet about it. Nothing worse then x thinking y is her best friend only to see z getting a best friend present. But if its done quietly I think its lovely. What about little matches brackets for them?
Just say to the mum at pickup. Shall we swap numbers and let them stay in touch.
