Swapping nurseries mid term?

Hi all!

My son is 2 and he started nursery in January, he loves it there, the only issue is myself and his dad have split and we are now moving house, I don’t drive so the 10 minute walk before has now become an hour with no direct bus and taxis will add up.. If I paid for him I would swap no problem but he’s funded! 15 hours.. can you swap mid term, or do I need to wait until september?

You can move him when ever you want, and the funding should move with him.I would call you local early years team for advise. Sometimes due to head count weeks the current nursery can refuse to give up the funding for this term so you would then have to pay the new provider you’re self. As we are only 2 weeks into new term this should not have happened yet.

Depends where you are, in my county the 2 year funding is about to be claimed and it’s not transferable mid term. In theory nurseries can transfer the money but it rarely happens

In my county it can’t be moved half way - the nursery have a funding deadline towards the start of each term and after that you can’t transfer the funding until the next one. Best call your local authority or just ask the nursery to check.
