2.5 year old doesn't like nursery

My 2.5 year old has said she doesn't like nursery. When asked about it she has mentioned another girl took her things away. This has happened twice now. I know did needs to learn to share and nursery is a great place for her to do that, especially being an only child. How do you figure out the balance between teaching her to share but also teach her to politely stand up for herself when you're not there?

Hi, I work at a nursery so hoping to give you another insight. Have you mentioned this to your child’s key person? If not, you should, they will be able to keep a closer eye on things and also reinforce whatever you say to your child at home. I would say to your daughter just to say “no” or “no, don’t do that” if she is able to and to tell a teacher. Not trying to be picky but what do you mean by “her things” are they actually hers or nurseries? I know we have a few children that love the same fire engine and have to really encourage them to share with each other and take turns. Sometimes at this age a child’s definition of sharing is selfishly inclined and it can be difficult to get the right balance. Talking to your child’s key person will definitely help and they may be able to suggest alternative ways to introduce the concept of sharing and turn taking

Thanks for your reply, on one occasion it was one of the nursery toys, the next time was a toy from home. I did mention to one of the nursery staff at drop off time, but not her key worker so will definitely mention it to her next week.Thanks for your advice.

And this is why we do allow children to bring things from home. It teaches that some things are theirs and some things are shared.
