30 Free Hours Query!

Hi mums,

Just wondered if anyone knew the answer to this. My daughter will be entitled to 30 free hours at nursery come January (the term after her 3rd birthday) that’s all fine and I know how much I will be paying the nursery a month.

I just wanted to know if you can use the tax free childcare alongside the 30 free hours? As in do I continue to pay the nursery through the government scheme (me pay 80% and they top it up with 20%) or does having the 30 free hours make that redundant?

Basically is it one or the other? Just want to figure out what I will be paying come January if we can still get the top up from the government.

Thank you 👍🏻

I used both, nursery billed me for meals and any hours not covered by the funding and I paid that through my tax free childcare account.

Both.

You can use both. It has been amazing for us since the 30 hours kicked in. We actually have savings again!
