Hi I'm on universal credit have been since I had my daughter who is 2 and shes desperate to start the
nursery that's down the road from us we walk past it every day and it's a nightmare trying to untangle her from the gates so I think it's time to start her journey, I applied for the free for 2 scheme I know for a fact shes entitled to the 15 hours but we've been rejected. Has anybody else experienced this and if so what's the next step? I've called them they told me theres nothing they can do it's not then who make the decision and I'm now completely stumped with a grumpy 2yo.

Do you mean they've said you're not entitled to the 15 free hours? If this is the case they have
Must have said why?

CatToddlerUprising · 05/09/2020 00:21

Who did you apply to for the funded hours?

insancerre · 05/09/2020 10:49

Did you apply in the government website?

user1495401245 · 05/09/2020 18:37

I applied on the website and I got this response back so I called them and all the woman could tell me was she put my details on the website they use and it's been rejected

You might want to remove your name on that post OP

I've reported for you

purpleme12 · 05/09/2020 18:49

So it hasn't been rejected they're going to keep checking it

user1495401245 · 06/09/2020 02:33

Thank you yawnsvillex I didnt notice it there 😬

On the phone I was told it was rejected but never told how yo appeal it, why would they even need to review it? I'm a single mother on uc, a uk resident, with a child born within the time frame they specified. Who do I go to? Local council offices?

Are you working and on UC top up? Or is your only income through UC?

If you’re working I think there is a cut off for the two year funding even if you get a top-up of UC.

Tumbleweed101 · 06/09/2020 09:14

It’s also worth talking to the nursery and asking if they have any advice. The manager may have more idea what the problem is in your particular circumstances and could help you make the claim.

SMaCM · 06/09/2020 09:33

Phone them again and ask them why specifically you were rejected.

Createausername · 06/09/2020 09:35

I thought if you were entitled you just get a letter ? I didn’t apply and we were sent the entitlement letter anyway for our 2 y o (he’s not ready so not sending him till he’s nearly 4 ) but I thought they automatically checked and sent to whoever is eligible

Thanks for your advice guys I tried again this morning with the exact same details and was accepted 😀🥳 I still have no idea what happened or why but I now have a over excited toddler excited about going to nursery

I was also rejected. Had to phone up and get a personal number as they said none of my details came up on any system even though I was on benefits for a couple of years with my son
