We are in a tough position. We put ds in a nursery in a town 10 miles down the road because we lived there at the time. We then moved here which is significantly smaller (village rather than city). There are only 3 nurseries in the village. All of which seem a bit crap (I've seen 2 out of 3 and am looking at the 3rd tonight). We kept ds in his nursery in Old City when we moved because dh still worked in the city. However, dh now works in our village so we are basically driving about 40 miles a day just for nursery... It seems bizarre!
But I can't seem to find anywhere suitable. They all just seems a bit crap.
Ds went to one of the local nurseries due to bad weather conditions for a few days (it's a sister company of the one he goes to) and it wasn't a positive experience so that one is definitely a no go.
The second one I looked around today and just seemed a bit dead. They also charge more and for bank hols despite being closed. They are part of a nation wide chain.
The 3rd is an individual nursery and we have a virtual show around tonight thanks to covid.
We are due second dc in January so want to get ds settled somewhere local ASAP but not somewhere shit!!!
Why is this so hard?!!!

Does it have to be a nursery? Could you find a decent childminder instead? How old is your DD?

curlyrebel · 26/08/2020 16:30

Sorry, DS

He'll be 2 in October. I suppose it could be a child minder, I just hate the uncertainty of covering their holidays and sickness. But I could definitely look further into it.

With my childminder when she hoes on holiday we have a 'supply' childminder etc.. maybe have a look around and see if any of them do anything like that! Hope you get it sorted

Oh thank you. I didn't realise such things existed! I'll definitely have a look
