Sequence of days at nursery

Hello.
I have a 13 m o son who is attending nursery 3 days a week. I'd be grateful for any views whether kids settle better having 3 days in a row (eg Mon - Weds) or have the days spaced out (eg Mon, Wed and Fri) at nursery. I'd be particularly interested to hear from anyone who has worked in a nursery as to what they think. Many thanks!

Hi,

I used to work in the 1-2 room at my nursery so I am slightly biased but I believe that it is probably easier to have the child do a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or a Tuesday, Thursday, Friday so that they only have a couple of days between each visit as it makes it harder on them to settle if thye have gone nearly 4 days without nursery and then 3 days with.

I'd agree. My ds 15 months just started mon and wed and settling in has been hard - no sooner has he got over monday he had wed to reinforce. Calm him down by Friday only to start the whole thing on Monday again!

DD has just started this week, we had 3 weeks of half days before this. She is 12m.

She does Monday, Wednesday, Friday as I believe the time in between with me at home reassures her. She does love Nursery though and I am more upset that she does not seem to miss me. Perhaps I am lucky with her personality or perhaps she is just so confident in our relationship?

Can't explain it as I was a clingy Child and had expected the same from her!

The split days also fit in well with work and home life, you get to spread your time more evenly.
