Nursery fees/government funding

Just a quick question about fees. I have paid £230 a month for nursery for my son for 2 years and I receive the same via tax credits. My nursery fee has gone down to £131 a month due to him being eligible for funding as he is now 3.

I presume this affects my tax credits but am dreading ringing them as they are a bit hit and miss whenever I have changed anything (paid us too much then paid us far too little etc etc). Just wondered if anyone on here knew for sure?

Yes - you have to ring teh tax credits office and tell them that your nursery fees have gone down. You will get a reduction in payments and the sooner you do it hte less likely you are to end up with a overpayment.

ok i live in ealing and just rand edu dept about free nursery places, whuch seems a very long processs! i assumed he was three he moved to nursery with adjoining pre school ( or whatevr its called ) i was now told he had to be 4? are there any places in existance that start at three??? or am i going mad, as i need to find him a new place, and dont want to go to another nursey again to be moved in a years time not fair obn him!

The nursery should sort it you for you. It starts from the term after he is 3. Does the nursery not do it cos mine does. Maybe it is about availability of places at that particular nursery/pre-school.

and a slightly less clear explaination from the Ealing website Still says all 3 & 4 year olds (from term after 3rd birthday} though.

Maybe the Pre-school isn't ergistered for 3yr olds?

BTW - talk to teh pre-school not the LEA as the applicationsare actually made by the pre-school/nursery (and they do them all the time)- you don't actually have to deal with the lea direct
