Nursery won't supply meals under 12 months

I will be going back to work when my little boy is 9 months and the nursery do not provide food or drink for under 12 months, I have to prepare and take all food and drink for him each day.

Is this normal policy or should I look for another nursery?

Not sure how I am going to prepare all his meals for the day and go to work and also catch up on work hours (I will have to leave work early to get back to pick him up so need to make up 2 hours WFH whilst he's asleep).

He's exclusively breastfed and won't take a bottle so I had planned to breastfeed him before and after nursery and to feed him solids and water at Nursery, we are doing baby led weaning, and I had hoped I could to check the menu and they could give him what the other children were having as long as he had tried it at home. However they will only do this from 1 and I need to provide all food and drink and instructions on when to give it to him.

Any ideas for easy but nutritious food I can prepare for him each morning? I am also trying to get him to take milk from a sippy cup.

Just feel evil right now as if I had taken the year off work this wouldn't be an issue but we couldn't afford it. Sorry for the essay.

Not currently but I am now looking to see if I can get a cancellation place anywhere decent.

Thank you all for the good meal ideas x

Honestly, this would make me reconsider and choose another nursery. It's not the work involved. Though it is a hassle to prep packed lunches and I hate doing it, fortunately it's only short term (3 months).

But it jumps out as a massive red flag that this nursery has wacky ideas and policies that will only cause more hassle as he gets older. I'm sure this isn't the only ridiculous rule they have. Babies under 12 months can perfectly well eat all sorts of normal food. Both of mine did from 6 months and both of mine started nursery under 12 months eating the same hot prepared lunch as all the nursery children did up to age 4. They don't do special meals for babies and they all eat the same things together at every snack and meal time. This was great because it got the little ones involved in meal times (which are served communally) and got them learning to sit and eat and try new things from a young age.

Gosh, I had no idea some nurseries didn't cater for under 1s! DD started nursery at 9 months and they took our lead with the kind of 'stage' she was at with weaning (we had a mostly baby-led approach but we did sometimes puree or mash stuff etc), so she just got the same as the older kids or a slightly mushier version of it etc. The food they make is ace, they have on-site chefs and their recent Ofsted report really praised the provision of food and their catering for dietary requirements. DD has no allergies but is vegetarian and eats very well at nursery - better than at home! I really wouldn't have sent her somewhere I would have had to provide food, that would have been too much of a struggle for me. She was bottle fed and they stocked a few brands of different formula, one of which was our usual brand, so we didn't need to provide that either.
