Do most nurseries text you daily updates?

Is this a widely done thing, or are my friends just using super posh, high tech nurseries?? They get photos and a running commentary of their child's day. It sounds amazing, but how do the nursery workers have time to do this for every child?

The nursery I went to look at today had an app you can log into and has updates, photos etc. Considering the ratio for 0-2 is 1:3 it must be fairly doable for the smaller ones.

Lots of nurseries use Tapestry or similar apps for observations which is probably what TinyMystery saw. Sending you regular reports is an easy way of demonstrating parent partnership which is something Ofsted look for. It can be quite distracting/time consuming for staff though

We have an app where we get details of every meal/snack including how much was eaten, every diaper or potty, about half a dozen photos showing what they’ve been up to including their twice daily trips out. It’s not in the U.K. but this is in a class of up to 16 2 year olds with 2-3 adults. It seems to fairly standard here as colleagues and friends report the same from their daycares.

We get 3-5 a day.

We get to ask at pick up if there's anything we need to know. At the end of the week we take home a journal that has a couple of sentences and sometimes a photo of what they've been up to that week. It's quite an old school and cheap nursery (comparatively to other local ones). The care is fantastic.

We have tapestry for pics during the day and they also keep a written log of what she’s eaten, nappies and naps (and bottles when she was younger)

It’s only really possible if you have more staff than ratio or children who sleep, otherwise staff are busy playing with the children!

That said, our nursery to written diaries in the 0-2yr room about bottles, sleeps etc.

Most of my colleagues get this. I know, because they tell me about their kids toilet breaks at length 😐

DonnaDarko · 09/09/2019 21:48

We don't get any of this! They will tell us how.his day went on pickup and sometimes he brings home artwork.

I think all those texts per day sounds like overkill, it's really not necessary.
