Disability Access Fund Question?! Help

Hi all, :)

Please can someone tell me if when your child receives Disability Access Funding at their Nursery can this be used for extra hours??
My sons nursery said this isn't possible and they will be buying him toys. This is an issue for me as if he has new toys there he will obsess over them and when he comes home it will cause him to meltdown.
I have no help with my son and he goes to Nursery Term time only I have been struggling on my own at home and would love that money to be used for him to Access nursery during the holidays to benefit myself and my son.
Please can someone help me with this question?
Thank you hope you are all well xGrin

Hello

At our local authority the Disability Access fund is only to be used to purchase resources to support the child. It might be worth asking the nursery if they can seek advice from their Area Senco (or similar) around what to purchase to support his needs rather than just buying him toys that he may like.

Do you know about the local offer? Go onto your county council website and search SEND local offer there maybe a group on there you can attend in the holidays. Being a parent of a child with SEN is a tough and lonely place sometimes. There should be a parent carer forum in your area too who are able to support you too

DAF can be used for additional hours, training or resources. If they buy resources you can borrow these for home if your son is attached to them

It's not supposed to be for extra hours in my LA. It's for equipment or training to enable the child to access funded sessions as other children do, not to give them more hours than other children can have.
