How much are nurseries?

We would like to put our little boy in Nursery half or one day a week, how much do you think this will cost, as we are not sure we will be able to afford it, but think it would be really good for him? He is 9.5 months old.
Thanks, Lx

In SW London they are between £40-£60 for a full day. You may find it difficult to have your DS in nursery for just half a day or one day a week at that age. I know a few nurseries around didn't want to do half-days with babies as it would disrupt their nap times. Also, not sure if your DS would get too much out of nursery if he only went for 1 day a week, although it would give you time to catch up on other things.

Hard to answer . Depends where you live.
Ds's new nursery has a flat rate of £38 per day, from 10am-6pm, so 38/10 hrs = £3.80.
Childminders round here are from £3.50-5.50 per hour.
Where are you pinkdaisy ?

Agree that he will probably struggle to settle for 1/2 day per week at that age. Although DD3 has been going 3 mornings since about 5m and has settled fine.

We pay about £260 per month for those 3 mornings at a moderately expensive nursery in Leicstershire. HTH

Sorry, my nursery does do a 1/2 day. Can't remember rate. And for little ones aswell.

We live in Staines in Middlesex. I put him in the creche at the gym for a couple of hours and he loves that, but would love for him to go for a whole day, but just not sure we could afford it. Lx

Yes, I should have mentioned that we did find a nursery that would take DD for half a day and she did 3 mornings for a while, then changed to 1 full day (I couldn't face the drive).

my dd goes 2 afternoons a week, has done since 7 months old. costs £170 a month.

our nursery takes babies from birth for half or full days. under 2 it's £20 per session (8-1 or 1-6) and £38 full day. I'm in suffolk.

LoonyLyraLovegood · 15/07/2007 22:03

My DSs was £53 for a full day, about £30 for a half day.
