Nurseries in Norwich

Hi All,

I am moving area and looking for a nursery for my 3 year old preschooler (starting school in September 2020.)
I require hours Monday - Friday 8-6 all year round (minus Bank Holidays.)
I am ideally looking for a small, homely nursery as this is what she is currently used to. I also would like if they have people coming in teaching languages and dance, to continue with her current activities.
I am looking to live in Norwich South and travel to just East of the city centre so South, West or around the centre would be good.
I have found a couple but they don't have places until the end of July/September and this move could happen in a month, maximum 2 month's time with no alternative childcare options...

Please help!! Any recommendations welcome so I can contact them and enquire...

Thanks in advance!

Peapods is supposed to be very good.

I would avoid the Beehive.

There's also Eaton Park nursery and Chapelfield and quite a few others - a new one opened up at Bignold Primary recently but i'm not sure what those are like. Worth checking out anyway.

There's also a Montessori in the northeast of the city and they tend to be pretty consistent.

Thank you Rufflecrow! I will check those out. Tried Chapelfield - loved the warmness of them but unfortunately they have no space until July. I'll definetly check out the others mentioned though!

Not sure but very jealous you're moving to Norfolk. It's beautiful!

Rvizor · 01/04/2019 20:54

Thank you yellowonesie. It is indeed but sad to be leaving Sussex - my home. Needs must though - family are in Norfolk and Suffolk... Also better jobs with the same if not better salaries and not so expensive so you get more for your money especially house wise...

They're only term time but as an emergency stop gap you could try hewett under fives for spaces? Dd went there until she started school and loved it.

Misty9 · 01/04/2019 20:59

And they're nothing to do with the Hewett school or bloody inspiration trust !

RuffleCrow · 01/04/2019 21:01

Oops just realised Eaton park nursery is no more. Still plenty of others round this way including one at the university if that's helpful.

There's an amazing award winning outdoor nursery called Dandelions which has just opened in eaton (it's also in north Norfolk). I think it's term time only though. I've also heard Once Upon a Time is well regarded (poss Montessori?) though it's in north city I think. Friends have loved the bignold ones (butterflies) and peapods for recreation road. Both term time only I'm pretty sure. Ds went to kidease (private year round) a few years back but we didn't get on with it and much preferred Hewett.

Thank you Misty9. I was going to try once upon a time too so that's great. Great re. Hewlett too until the other spaces become available. Good to know about kids ease too as was going to contact them but wasn't sure about them...

Does anyone know anything about seedlings (not available until September) or cleverclogs (in Cringleford - one on Dereham Road not available until July but would be happy to know more about that one too if i have to get interim care until then...)?

Hi OP,
Just a couple of fees for you to consider- the Montessori mentioned above doesn’t open til 6 every day, and the University Nursery is exclusively for UEA staff & students only.
Personally I would highly recommend Peapod Preschool, and I’ve heard good things from friends about Once Upon a Time.

Yesmarypoppins · 01/04/2019 22:22

*Edit: THINGS for you to consider. Sorry, long day!

FrozenMargarita17 · 01/04/2019 22:28

Following with interest. There are two nurseries in my village but I have no experience of them so am keeping an eye in case they're mentioned!

Rvizor · 01/04/2019 22:52

Thank you yesmarypoppins :) I'll contact once upon a time tomorrow. Unfortunately peapods is term time only :(

So I have found a space at little squirrels (still waiting to hear from once upon a time) does anyone know little squirrels at all?
