Staff politeness (or lack thereof)

Hi all,

I had a phone conversation with a member of staff where among other things, I was asking about the wherabouts of the nursery manager, and the person in question said (presumably because she hasn't heard, but still!!): "Umm what are you on about? Oh the Manager (..) "
This is at my second interaction with the nursery where I secured a place for my son. I'm not impressed : ))

What is the rudest/most inappropriate thing that a member of nursery staff has told you? :)

Not sure I've ever said anything rude/inapprpropriate but I have a huge list of rude things nursery parents have said to us....

Sometimes to answer the phone I’ve got to run across a busy room while leaving a child sat on the toilet, holding a pair of pooey pants with another one crying because, well, they just are, I could find out but I’ve got to answer the phone
No wonder, we sound distracted

Wouldn’t a nursery worker be more properly concerned with the whereabouts of the children rather than acting as PA to the manager?

But if you absolutely need childcare to come complete with a corporate style telephone manner, you should insist they employ a top secretary/PA.

......then come on mumsnet to complain that the fees have increased accordingly.

Err that was a deputy manager. Standard English would be a good start, nobody is asking for corporate lingo, really.

A member of staff once eye-rolled, sighed and said 'I don't normally work on a Friday!' when I turned up to collect and she/they had lost/misplaced the child I was collecting somewhere in the nursery!!
