Tax free childcare- can’t it be backdated?

Hi all, only just found out this existed today but my son has just turned 3 and will get 30 hours free childcare from April so there isn’t much point me applying now! However I was wondering if it was possible to backdate this as we have been sending him (and paying in full) for the last year for 15 hours a week.
Thanks

I don't think so as it works like an account that you pay into and the government top up by the tax amount then you use that account to pay registered childcare providers.

It might still be worth you registering if you are going to use any holiday or after school type childcare though.

Your childcare provider may still bill you for additional services whilst on 30 hour funding, and TFC could help with this. You can use TFC will children up to 11 years, so could be useful in future.

No it can't be back dated. Nice idea though but alas the past is the past.
