Should I have mentioned this to the staff?

DD1 is 3, and at a nursery. She is fully toilet trained but does have the odd accident, maybe once a month or so. She came home yesterday and told me her knickers and tights were wet when we got home. After questioning her a bit more, she said she told staff member (A) that she had had an accident, and A didn’t help her find her spare clothes or change her into them. She is now very upset and embarrassed. I spoke to the other staff at drop off today and I was met with a huge tone of surprise. Was I right to mention it? It’s not the end of the world I know, but I’m really not sure if this is the done thing, should she be asking for her spare clothes? She’s my first child and I haven’t a clue how it all works. Thanks

I’m a childminder (experienced) and I would defo have mentioned it to them. In nursery it’s all part and parcel of learning and their job.

Thankyou for your reply. They didn’t mention it at pick up. The tone of surprise and the way they responded made me doubt myself. Thanks again!

You were right to mention it but of course they were surprised! It's hardly going to be expected for a nursery nurse to refuse to help a 3 year old who has wet themselves. I would assume there was a misunderstanding.

Yeah I see what you mean, I didn’t think of it that way. I took it as more surprised that it was mentioned than surprised because it wasn’t the norm if that makes sense. I’ll see what they say Monday. I think there has been a misunderstanding of some sorts. Thankyou for responding!
