Late notice extra sessions at nursery

Does your nursery let you book an extra session at late notice? Having a panic as childcare for today has broken down but they aren't open yet for me to ask! Is it usual for nurseries to do this?! My child goes there three other days of the week.

My nursery offers back up care- however it's funded by my employer (you get 20 days a year free) is it a large franchise nursery or independent?

I'm sure they would if they had spaces. The workers are only licensed to so many kids each depending on their level of qualifications.
Think you'll have to wait til they open (I imagine they'd answer the phone a bit before session though as presumably they have to get in and set up first?)

Thank you! I'll try a bit before half seven. It's an independent nursery and I know it's popular so they might be full, will see what they say! 🙈

mine was really obstructive about extra sessions, I get they need to know they won't be over ratio but it was when I was sick with morning sickness badly and I would have been happy for a call at 10 to say kids are off sick we have space. but no, and no extra payment for them. stupid.

How old is baby?
Mine would take DC if the ratio was right so many times they declined and some they accepted him.

He's 18 months, they've said yes to a short day thank goodness! Thanks for all the replies 😊
