For a friend- planning to start a family, she has just nearly vomited at the price of the first nursery that she has looked at.

Are all nurseries in surrey extortinate, specifically because of geographically where they are in proximity to 'commuter belt areas?

any advice appreciated

I live in Fleet (not a million miles away!) In this area nurseries charge between £41 and £55 per day. defintely have to be reasonably well paid to make returning to work viable. In the south of Hampshire the cost of nursery is signif less. could consider a child minder as they charge approx £3.50+ an hour

I paid £700 a month for a full time nursery place in commuter. maybe similar or more expensive. HTH.

I suggested a childminder to her. Nurseries are so expensive!

There is a newish nursery in Deepcut, so not far from Camberley/Bagshot, which charges £40 per day (from the sign they have on London Road, Camberley). It is called The Fun Factory and is open 50 weeks per year, 8am to 6pm. Contact: Donna/Ceri on 01252 838003

Childminders in the area (certainly those more towards the Berkshire border) seem to average around £4.50 per hour, some will be higher/lower than this. A nanny like myself would typically cost an employer around £10 to £12 per hour. Evening babysitters in the area cost around £10 per hour, so all forms of childcare in the Surrey / North Hampshire border area are quite expensive.
