URGENT QUESTION about nursery hours

Hello

Iv left it really late for enquiring about nurseries as wasn't 100% sure what hours I am doing come September

Before I start looking, can I just ask does anyone know if you can just have one day in nursery? So like that would be 4 days a month
Or even half days??
I'm sure 8 years ago when my 10 year old was 2, they said we had to a do a minimum of so many hours (maybe for them to make profit)

This time round it's my 9 month old. I'm very lucky that my in laws and parents will be taking her for three day, it's just the extra day I'm doing (im working four days a week as a High school ta) so would only need the one day sorted
I was thinking of childminder but the nearest ones are all booked up :( seems like nurseries are nearer to my workplace so I could even check on her on my lunch break

Some nursery do let you do odd days, mine does. It doesn't do ha.f days for under 2s tho because it's just not feasible for them. You should go and visit a few and ask.

Most nurseries I've found only take full time kids , few take part time and those that do want you to take at least four sessions. One I found has term time places but that worked out as more expensive than paying pcm.

I'm not saying that you won't find what you want but it may be hard to find ime.

Some do but many won’t as it’s not really fair on the child - most will take forever to settle in if only going one day a week.

Some nurseries will, some won't. They are only allowed a certain number of children in their building, dependant on age as directed in the EYFS statutory framework. If it's a busy nursery they will have to chose between accepting a child for one day or accepting a child who wants the whole week. If they were at maximum capacity and could only give the space to one of them they would go for the child who wanted the whole week.

Nurseries make their own rules about minimum sessions so you’ll have to check with your local ones.

In my area most insist on two days a week, but a couple would allow one day or two afternoons.

£1200 pm full time , the nursery is open 7-6 and I'm in London. That's cheap for around here believe it or not.

Mine lets you do that, but I think your chance of finding a nursery place for a 9 month old for 2 weeks time is unlikely.

I pay £44 a day for my under 2.

Ours have a 4 session minimum - so 2 full days. DC1 is in 2 full days, £54 a day in Scotland. He does love it!

Mine is £195 p/w for my under 2 in the north

Around us it's £1850 pcm full time they do one day a week only sessions at £76 a day (London)

When my ds started Nursery at 2 he did one day a week 8 hours
the minimum was 1 full day or minimum of 2 half days. Then he moved up to 3 full days the term after he turned 3 with the 30 hours free. We had to start him about 6 months prior to guarantee him a place with the funding.

We pay around £66 a day. Our nursery doesn’t do just one day a week- minimum of two days.

My DS does one full day a week. The other nursery in my town has a minimum of two sessions a week, but this could be two half days. My DS' nursery has no minimum as my DN used to do half a day a week but didn't settle wel. So he now does one full day a week and seems much happier.

We pay £48 a day including all meals and snacks.

£40 a day here (8-6) - includes all meals but if you want extended hours (7-7) then you have to pay extra.

Monday - Friday 8-5.30

Many wont do 1 day a week due to difficulty settling at that age.

I do minimum 2 days. Nothing to do with money and everything to do with the child settling faster and having a sense of belonging. You just need to ask each setting what their policy is.

You might have better luck if you are looking for a Friday.
