Registering with more than one nursery

Hi, I’m looking for a nursery place for next year in Greater London on the west side. Just wondering if it’s standard practice to register with more than one nursery to ensure we get a place for Sept 2019. One nursery has advised that we have to pay a refundable deposit of £100 to go on the waiting list which has made me think. Thanks!

Yes, everybody I know registered for more than one.

Most nurseries charge a deposit so if you register for more than one nursery you will lose the money at the nurseries you don't use

Yes. It is not infrequent to register and not get a place. I have registered my DD at several nurseries pre birth, and still not got a place!

Thanks all! It’s a balancing act between paying the registration fees and ensuring we get a place. We have registered with 2 nurseries and hope that will be enough.
