Hello everyone!
Really hoping I can get opinions.
I have a 5 year old and a 19 month old. I used to live in a different area and my 5 year olds nursery was a forest school -free play so they could go inside and outside as they play etc. I now live in a town and did not like any nurseries so I postponed my youngest going for a while. I did find one I really liked however there was a waiting list.
My daughter started nursery a month ago in the one I liked most of of all the ones I was not keen on. She is extremely confident and outgoing however she screams whenever she goes, or just has silent tears and a quivering lip. when I pick her up she is crying because she can see others going. However I am aware this is normal when a child is settling in!
I have been unhappy with numerous things for example I have never been introduced to her key worker and it is never her key worker that comes over and tells me how she has been nor Is it her cuddling her. I did ask who she was and they pointed her out.
I finished work early last week and got there at 4pm. All of them (I think there is approx. 12 16-22 month olds) were sat silently watching a peppa pig dvd whilst the girls cleaned. It was lovely and warm outside too :(. Although that room only has a tiny tiny patiod garden (aprox 3 x 3m, although they can all go into the bigger astroturfed garden sometimes)
Also, when I take her in the morning and pick her up, the staff always seem to be having their own little conversations and not doing much with the children.
I may just be being picky but my 5 year olds nursery was completely different. I haven't really brought it up though as this nursery has very good reviews etc too.
However... the nursery I really liked has called and they now have a place for her if she wants it. I am in two minds about moving her! She absolutely LOVES being outdoors which is what I always wanted in the first place. This place also does free flow and has lots of gardens etc which is where she is at her happiest (i.e. in the morning she runs straight to the back door asking to go outside).
Do I move her? I am worried this will unsettle her even more as she only goes 1-2 days a week.
Advice??
