Nursery trips on buses

My sons nursery is great and they do quite a few trips with him. He’s just 2 and in the toddler room. My only concern is the transport. On his first trip we asked what happens with the minibus and do they put them in car seats and they just said no they don’t need to the kids just sit on the seats. I was a bit anxious about this (in my car he’s still rear facing) but I figured hey they must do this all the time.

The trip coming up on Friday is going to be on a public bus - so high seats and no belts at all. I just cant imagine this is safe. But when I ask they reassure me it is fine but I guess I want practical details about how they handle safety on buses.

Anyone had similar concerns or been on a bus trip with a group of 2 year olds and know how it works?

I've taken loads of children on buses and other trips
They will be helped on to the seats and helped down again
They will be closely supervised
I wouldn't worry too much
Car seats are not necessary on buses

If in the very, very rare event that there was an accident involving the bus, the impact is distributed in a different way in a bus so car seats make little or no impact to the outcome to children of passengers. Hence why they are not required by law. From my experience each child will be belted in by an adult checking they are secure.

What do you think the many parents who rely on public transport do with their children on the bus?
