Dirty nappy, dirty clothes.

I think I already know the answer to this but DC (2 and a half) comes home from nursery sometimes smelling of poop. When I investigate, there is poop on the inside of trousers where DC has either been left sitting in his dirty nappy for a while, or insufficient care has been taken when cleaning up. I have mentioned this to one of the keyworkers. I send extra clothes in case of accidents which are never used. AIBU to think that this should just not happen, and that he should be clean when he comes home?

Of course he should be clean so totally reasonable.
Your child should have one key worker.
I would mention it again to whoever is in charge of the room and say how many times it has happened and who you reported it to.
Nappies can leak and don't always have to be left too long to do so, they may be particularly loose motions or the nappy want fastened properly or they are not a good fit for a child so I wouldn't assume its because your Lo has been left too long but they definitely should be checking he is clean.

My 2 yo has been at Nursery for a year and this has NEVER happened. They are more thorough than I am with cleaning up and nappy changes, despite him being very wiggly.

This has never happened with my DD and she started going when she was 6 months (so more runny poo TMI). I definitely think you should speak to the manager

I work in a nursery myself. I work with 3 month-2 year old and that it appauling that they are coming home smelling and dirty. We have let's of messy play out for the children including sand, water, sensory and they do lots of craft activity so they are bound to get messy but we always change them and if they haven't got any spare clothes we have a draw with some.

I love the fact that my child gets messy at nursery it shows they have been doing lots but also love that they are always clean with a fresh bum. sometimes the clothes don't look great as I've only took one spare pair in and they've had to be changed twice but I'd rather them be clean and not colour coordinated than smelly and dirty.

I'd seriously write it on paper and give it to them stating that you would like tour chils to be clean after participating in activities and after leaking nappies. Also starting you'd like them to be changed every 2-3 hours because it sounds like they could even be leaving her in a nappy for long periods of time. If things don't change then contact someone higher up. They'll poo theirselfs then. Good luck hun.

That’s awful. I send my son (8mo) with three changes of clothes in case he gets them dirty, he’s never once come home soiled. Yeah there might be a bit of food on his neckline but that’s fine. They even bag up the dirty soiled in red bags and food/play soiled in blue bags. I’d be having strong words.
