We have paid a registration fee and upon receiving an offer for a place we are asked to pay a full terms' fees (approx £3k) as a deposit refundable when we withdraw our dc from there, provided we give a full terms' notice.

Is this the norm?

Christ- no! I thought our youngests was bad that it was £500! That was about normal round here (NE London/Essex).

Justthejist · 23/11/2017 16:45

No not normal at all!!

Thats madness!!

HSMMaCM · 23/11/2017 22:07

Full terms fees in advance I can understand. Are they taking a deposit and then also billing you for the term?

mindutopia · 24/11/2017 11:18

Not around here. I think we had to pay a small deposit to hold our space, but no where near that (private nursery). Then monthly fees billable on the first Friday of the month. I agree, it might make sense if they are planning to apply that to your first term fee's, but not to hold it until the end.

moreismore · 24/11/2017 11:20

Not normal! We had a £90 registration fee then fees payable monthly. Private nursery also

AveEldon · 24/11/2017 11:35

I'd say it sounds fairly normal in London

ForgivenessIsDivine · 24/11/2017 11:39

Is it a nursery attached to a private school?

RatRolyPoly · 24/11/2017 11:51

Jeez, where is this nursery?? Ours is £100 refundable.

3k??? Still recovering from the shock of reading that tbh.

glow1984 · 24/11/2017 11:53

Definitely not normal! Mine was only £100

glow1984 · 24/11/2017 11:53

Meant to add, we are in Kent on a popular commuter belt.

ineedwine99 · 24/11/2017 11:58

Nope! Our deposit was £50!

PowWowNow · 24/11/2017 18:25

It is in Central London, Bayswater/Hyde Park area.
No, not attached to a private school.

Nope, deposit will be held until dc is withdrawn by giving a full terms notice.

That's a lot! We had to pay a month's fees (£1075) to reserve DD's place but then that was the payment for the first month.
