Am I right thinking this is only when the child is 3 years old?

And is this means tested?

Funded hours are means tested from age 2 (meaning your dc can get them from the term after they turn 2 if you are on any benefits). It's from age 3 for funded hours for everyone else. It is not means tested. Everyone is entitled to at least 15 hours and you can get 30 hours if you are working (certain number of hours and income per week).

Tax free childcare, which basically reduces your childcare costs by 20%, is available for everyone (not means tested) from birth to 12 years.
