Settling in Week???

So basically Lo started settling in on Tuesday.

How the settling in time table went:
Tuesday 9-11 parent stays with child

Wednesday 9-1230 parents stays on sight & helps with lunch

Thursday 9-130 parent stays local & comes back to help with lunch

Friday 9-230 parents comes back at 230 to pick up child

Monday 9-330 parent drops child and collects at finish

So we're at Friday so far. But the assistant changed all the times this whole week for my LO & this morning she said to me you can collect him at 330 instead of 230 as I think he's doing okay. So as I dropped him and left this morning he was very clingy & didn't want me to leave.

Picked him up at 330 & assistant said to me you don't need to bring him in on Monday because he done a full day today, so just bring him in on Tuesday which is his normal day to come in.

Is that right? I would have preferred him to go in on Monday just as I felt anxious all day as I left him unsettled.

I have never heard of a settling in week like this, it's bonkers! Most people use a Nursery because they have to work and therefore would not be able to swan about coming back at random times every day for a week. I also question the safeguarding policy of a nursery letting parents help with Lunch? I would take him in on Tuesday as that is his normal day and try not to worry if he doesn't want you to go that's the only normal part of your entire post .

It sounds a little crazy, especially being there over lunch?! Mine did three settling in sessions in one week- an hour with me there filling in forms, an hour next day with me leaving her there and then three hours over a mealtime. DD's keyworker was there for all of them.

That does seem a bit OTT.
I've worked in school settings with nurseries from age 3 and they do start gradually like this:
Day 1: an hour with parents staying, then Day 2: two hours with parent staying for first half hour
Day 3: whole morning

But it then stays consistent so you wouldn't have a day off on Monday just because you stayed a little longer today that doesn't sound right!!

Settling in week here too!
10-12 Monday
10-12.30 inc lunch Tuesday (helped here too)
Tomorrow it's 10-2 inc nap, and I'm supposed to stay in staff room.
After that it's our usual days, but need to be close by for first two weeks.

Settling in should be done before going back to work

What days are your child attending? The nursery I work at we tell parent to keep the week free for settling, but if they are ok we may miss a day. Remember your child will need to be within the ratio maybe they realised that on Monday with your child they would over, so if that wasn't your chosen day and they had been doing fine. They would say come on Tuesday if that was the start date.

There is no safeguarding concern as the parent will only be helping their child and will not be left unsupervised with any children.

From my experience as a parent it is normal for settling in to be led by the needs of the child, my DD have weeks and weeks of settling in as she has never been left before. If you were not happy then you need to speak to nursery at the time.
