Bank holiday at the nursery,need advice please

Sorry for asking so many question today Blush
My 2.5yrs DS currently goes to nursery on Monday and Friday cause the nursery said that only they have place only for these day.
However,as you are all know Bank holiday always fall on Monday or good Friday and they're off on bank holiday,That means my DS missed so many days in a month when we are fully pay them for it!!!
I speak to the nursery about what I concern as This upcoming May we have 2 bank holiday waiting and They look at my with the ... look and hardly said like IF...we... have...a...space...which...we...aren't...sure something like this.
If you were me,what you are going to do

What does your contract say about bhs? Some nurseries will let you swap or refund you, some charge anyway.

That's normal. after all they still pay wages and overheads for the days they close.

Maybe my nursery is unusual but we are only billed for the actual dates it is open, not for holidays.

If I were you I'd look at what the contract you signed said about Bank Holidays. My DCs nursery never refunded for Bank Holidays either. It's normal.

They said if they have space in any day during that week they can put me in but they won't promise since it looks so full at my nursery,if that normal I will just have to accept it and put the request with them for moving the day in the future then x

That's standard for a private nursery and it should be in your contract. I know it's a pain but if you work you'd expect to be paid on a bank holiday so do they.

It's normal but hidiously unfair. I can't understand why the cost isn't absorbed (even if it's paying an extra £2 a day) as it hits those who work Mon and Fri disproportionately- and makes no business sense because it adds to the pressure for midweek spaces. If you work part time and work Mondays and Fridays even if you have bank holidays off the pro ratad holiday allowance is also unlikely to cover the whole bank holiday time lost so you end up out of pocket. I feel really sorry for parents who have to work bank holidays, pay nursery fees and find alternative childcare.

My old nursery only charged for 50 weeks a year as they were closed for 10 days throughout the year - I thought this was standard!
