48 hours no go policy

Dd attends a teddies nursery. Got phoned up at work today and had to pick up dd due to her having couple of bouts of the runs. Well they think it was that! DD seems absolutely fine and had no prob since bringing her home and gone to bed like a dream. Nursery said she cant go in for 48 hours even if she is well tomorrow, because of it being a stomach bug. Does this sound the norm?

Yup - 48 hours seems usual to me - it takes that long for the virus (usually) to be excreted out of the body. D&V bugs are notoriously hard to shift and easy to catch so I'm not surprised they're being careful.

Okey doke! Thanks for that. Crikey, takes you by suprise just how many bugs they get once they go to nursery, doesnt it!!

hi all

my dd attends an asquith nursery and I have been told she cannot attend tomorrow as she has conjunctivitus, apparently all the babies have it

I went to dr on monday to ask for drops and he said that it is caused by a virus and they no longer give eye drops unless it gets really bad

I explained this to nursery (it was better by tuesday, and she was clear this morning but I am guessing her eyes gunnked up when she napped this pm) and they said that she either has to be on drops for 24hrs or has to have a note from the dr explaining why she cannot have drops, before she can return.

Obviously I have to pay for this day off, but also I am unsure about whether I will get paid at work? Does anyone know about this? I am a teacher/

I did not ask work about pay, as they are q disorganised on this front and decided that if I asked it might make them aware that they could get away with not paying me. Is that naughty?

My son's nursery has a 24 hour rule. However, on a couple of occasions it has been clear that it was not a transmittable bug and they let him back slightly earlier.

I do think the rules should be standard.
