Is this normal nursery practice?

DD, who is 2 and a half, is in the midst of potty training at the moment and has just started going nappy free at nursery this week.

Both today and yesterday she pooed in her pants.

When she was younger (in the baby room) and had a nappy leak, the staff would often wash her clothes, or at least clean the worst of the poo off.

Today and yesterday, after collecting her, I opened her bag to find the entire poo left in her pants and the whole bundle wrapped up in a nappy bag.

Is it unreasonable to expect the staff to at least dump the majority of the poo down the toilet instead of leaving it to fester in her pants in her backpack all day??

I mentioned it lightheartedly today to her key person who didn't seem too concerned. Would it be unreasonable to complain, or at least raise it with the nursery management.

That's just awful. There is absolutely no reason why they cannot flush the poo down the toilet. The nursery will have plastic gloves, the staff won't have to touch anything, it's just laziness. I would complain!

My nursery wouldn't wash my dd's clothes if she had an accident and I'm not sure I would want them to. However, I wouldnt expect to find a turd in her bag either!! Unless it was a very loose bowel movement I don't see why they wouldn't just tip the bulk of it down the toilet first? I probably wouldn't say anything about it to the nursery but only because I'm a chicken when it comes to stuff like that! I don't think it would be unreasonable to mention it if you feel you can.

My DS's nursery threw his pants away if he'd pooed in them. Would have got through a pack a week if I'd done the same at home.

When DS1 had accidents at nursery, the staff would usually scrape the poo off and soak his pants, so the pants would still need a wash, but there was never a poo there.

Our nursery put them in the bin! As I did at home to be fair...wrapping up a poo is just disgusting!

Ds1 childminders did this once with a leaky nappy all over a bodysuit and ii asked she just bin it if in that state and she wasn't prepared to rinse it off equally his nursery did it with pants and ii was shocked to find a full on turd I just binned them and said to them the same if they couldn't tip the turd in the loo then bin the pants it is certainly not the highlight of my eve to sort bags for next day and be greeted with a turd. (Ds1 first cm and mess food, poo, wee whatever she bunged in machine with her washing she said machine was on daily and I didn't mind childcare clothes are cheap or second hand here)

IMO not usual - our nursery would dispose of the poi and wash the pants through before popping them in a bag!

Nope not usual practice. Every nursery I'd work in would tip into the toilet and rinse off excess before bagging up. If it was really loose we'd generally throw the pants away as leaving pants full of poo in a bag all day is vile.

We dispose of what we can down the toilet and then safely secure the pants in 2 bags to avoid any leakages etc

No. My dds nursery asked us our preferences. We told them to bin any pooey pants!

That is disgusting and lazy!
If it's solid tip it in the toilet then flush, if it's loose bin them!
It could be that it's one certain member of staff not knowing what to do so it needs reporting

No that's no normal IME. Our nursery would tip down toilet then give clothes a rinse through before putting into a tied plastic bag for home.

Yep ours is the same as others, they get rid of it in loo, rince slightly and then pack away. Was asked informally what I wanted them to do.

That's just disgusting and lazy must have made the room with all the pegs smell awful!!

Yuk...No not normal practice at our nursery. We don't actually wash the clothes but we would always get rid of the actual poo and give them a rinse!
